Action Needed for Zoom Update
After winter break, the district will be doing a Zoom Authentication update which will require students to sign in to Zoom when participating in remote learning. In order to be prepared, we ask that you do several things. We are asking that students complete the first step this week.
1) Either Thursday or Friday, between 3:30 and 6 pm, please have your child log into their Chromebook and click this link: Test Zoom Authentication. Teachers are also being asked to put this link in Google Classroom for each student so it is accessible. It will look like a Zoom room is opening, which is supposed to happen. Your child also may be asked to sign in. Once your child is in the Zoom meeting, a screen will pop up with some music. That's it! Then they can exit. This step must be completed so there is no issue for your child accessing Zoom after winter break. If your child cannot complete this step this week, there are two additional opportunities on January 2 and January 3 from 1 to 6 pm.
2) At the end of each day, when the Chromebook is not in use, please have your child completely log off and shut it down properly. Closing the lid is not shutting it down. When updates are applied to the Chromebook the computer will not apply the updates unless it is shut down properly.
3) Once the authentication begins on January 4, the goal is for nothing to appear different for your child when they log into their Zoom rooms. If a student is using the district Chromebook, which they should be, it should work just as it is now. If a student is using a different device, they will be prompted to log into the SSO first.
